"I have suggested that the decision on my extension be deferred. There is no change for the Tata Group," he said.
Earlier, the Tata Group had decided to re-appoint Chandrasekaran as the chairman of Tata Sons for another five years after differences of opinion with Tata Trusts Chairman Noel Tata.
Chandrasekaran, 62, started his career with the Tata Group in 1987 and eventually became the CEO of Tata Consultancy Services in 2009. He took over as the chairman of Tata Sons in February 2017.
