The Enforcement Directorate has attached Reliance Group Chairman Anil Ambani's Mumbai residence 'Abbott' worth Rs 3716.83 crore in connection with its money laundering case involving his alleged involvement in the Reliance Communications bank fraud.
The house, located in Mumbai's Pali Hill, is 66 metres high and has 17 floors. Earlier, a portion of the same property was attached for Rs 473.17 crore. After the latest move, the total seizure of assets in the group is over Rs 15,700 crore, the Enforcement Directorate said.
The Enforcement Directorate said Reliance Communications and its group companies had taken loans from banks in India and abroad, of which Rs 40,185 crore is outstanding.
The Enforcement Directorate has summoned Anil to appear before it on Thursday and has also summoned him to appear for questioning on that date.
This comes less than a week after Anil filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court.
He had assured the apex court of his full cooperation in the probe into the alleged Rs 40,000 crore banking and corporate fraud involving the Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (ADAG).
