Practice True Empathy 🤔
Empathy is the ability to understand and share another person’s feelings. For a leader, it’s about seeing your team members as whole people with lives and pressures outside of their roles.
Active listening: Pay full attention when someone is speaking. Put your phone away, make eye contact, and ask clarifying questions to truly understand their perspective before responding.
Seek understanding: When a team member is struggling, a compassionate leader’s first instinct is curiosity, not judgment. Ask questions like, “How are you doing on this project?” or “What challenges are you facing that I haven’t seen?”
